Our Story

The SCLOA was founded in 2009 prior to inaugural season of South Carolina High School League sanctioned lacrosse in the state of South Carolina.  While schools and clubs in the state had been playing lacrosse at an extarmural level since 1999; the formal recognition of the sport required the creation of an officials association.  Hence the creation of the SCLOA

The purpose of the South Carolina Lacrosse Officials Association is to  promote of the welfare of the game of Lacrosse by

  • Promoting the establishment, maintenance, and implementation of the highest Standards of integrity, honesty, and efficiency in the administration, policies, and scope of Lacrosse officiating by the members of the South Carolina Lacrosse Officials Association Inc.
  • Promoting uniform interpretation of Lacrosse rules and maintaining a uniform standard of qualifications for officials.
  • Fostering high standards of ethics and integrity, encouraging fair play, sportsmanship, closer cooperation, and a better understanding among officials, athletic directors, coaches, and players.
  • Supporting the South Carolina High School League and the South Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association and the schools, the coaches, the athletic administrators, and the players by open forums, rules interpretations, clinics, and field demonstrations.
